Department Training

The Danville Metropolitan Police Department takes pride in the training our officers receive. The State of Indiana requires that a police officer receives 24 hours of continued training per year; however each of our officers receive well over this basic requirement on an annual basis.

The Danville Metropolitan Police Department maintains a training facility for up to 45 students. Regular trainings are held in this facility with instructors from both  local agencies and agencies across the country.

The Danville Metropolitan Police Department also maintains a law enforcement firearm shooting range and police K9 training facility located at 124 Twin Bridges Road in Danville. The property is graciously loaned to our department by Waste Management services in Danville and was built in 1996. The range is the only outdoor law enforcement range in Hendricks County and is utilized by surrounding agencies, as well as many other state and federal partners in our area. The outdoor K9 training facility is also heavily utilized by surrounding agencies during the warmer months.  Range Masters, Sergeant Brian Everling and Officer Javie Settlemoir maintain safety and oversee training at the range.
