Our Gardens

The Town of Danville in cooperation with local organizations have set aside an area made available for a community garden.   The Garden will be located on Mackey Road (just east of the South Elementary School).  The Danville Community School Corporation is graciously providing the land for the garden.  Gardeners will be allowed to choose their own plots.  Gardening activities will begin April 15th of 2010.  The local Community Gardens Steering Committee hopes that residents find this program to be a fun and worthwhile experience.

Benefits of a Community Garden

Community gardens beautify the neighborhood and provide a safe, recreational green space in which to relax and enjoy being out doors. Individual gardeners get a chance to grow some of their own vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers, some of which might not be available in local markets. In the process of doing so, they learn gardening skills while contributing to keeping urban air clean. Interacting with one another, gardeners gain a sense of community. Children get an opportunity to see where their food comes from, learn how things grow, how to care for plants and gain a sense of achievement in growing their own food.

Limited spots available sign up online or send in a registration form today.  May 7th is the deadline for gardeners to register for a plot.  Adult plots are 20'x15' for $10.00 youth plots are 5'x5' and are Free.
