Town of Danville, Indiana
Police Department

The Danville Police Department's roots stretch back to the mid-1800s shortly after the Town was incorporated. Since then, the town has grown substantially both in population and in area.

Like other departments, steady growth has created an increasing demand for services, which in turn, results in an increasing demand for more sophisticated equipment to help them do their job more efficiently.  Today, Danville's police cars are equipped with video cameras and laptop computers.

In 2002, the dispatch center for the Danville Police and Fire Departments began operating on Hoosier Project Safe-T 800 MHz communications system. This state-of-the-art system allows different agencies to communicate directly with each other on the same frequency and eliminates the need for time-consuming relay of information back and forth between individual dispatch centers.
